Top Ten VaultWare Powered Apartment Search Websites in Fourth Quarter 2010

February 8, 2011, Scottsdale, AZ -- Apartment marketing and leasing software provider VaultWare™ today released its quarterly list of the top ten most popular apartment search websites powered by the VaultWare online apartment availability and reservation system during the fourth quarter of 2010. The list highlights the top performing apartment Internet Listing Services based on the number of renters that check specific apartment availability, indicating a higher level of interest in the property.

The VaultWare apartment reservation system integrates with over 170 websites in the United States to provide rental prospects the ability to find current rental pricing and availability, as well as to hold a specific unit and prequalify instantly online. On average, over one million people per month used VaultWare to check availability in 2010.

VaultWare availability searches per property diminished during the months of October through December, reflecting the typical seasonal trend in multifamily leasing. The ranking remained mostly unchanged from Q3 2010 with Craigslist retaining its position at the top with the classified ad site generating 186.1 availability searches per property in the 4th quarter. Although Google recently announced plans to drop real estate listings from its Maps product, Google Maps reentered the ranking last quarter with 12.3 availability searches per property.

Property managers and owners can use the self-service site to quickly and easily create a professionally designed website in three simple steps. No technical knowledge is needed to build a VaultWare Places website. Users can customize their favorite design, enter their content and have a fully-functional, high-quality property website in a matter of minutes.

Since 2003, VaultWare has been a consistent multifamily industry innovator. Services that have shaped the industry include the first and most popular online apartment reservation system, the first mobile leasing solution and the first iPad apartment leasing tool. VaultWare Places provides limitless design combinations by offering various layout options and a selection of pre-defined and customizable color palettes to compliment the property’s branding. An easy-to-use content management system designed specifically for apartment communities ensures all critical information is included in the website such as photo galleries, floor plan details, pricing and social media links. Property managers have the ability to use their existing property website address (domain name) and can even set up Google Analytics to track visitors to their VaultWare Places site.

The open platform architecture of VaultWare Places allows for the seamless integration with VaultWare’s suite of online marketing and leasing solutions, as well as third-party service providers such as RentPayment’s online rent payments or the online rental application from Blue Moon, the exclusive distributor of the official lease forms of the National Apartment Association.

VaultWare Announces Free Property Website Program for the Apartment Industry

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Nov. 14, 2010 -- Apartment marketing and leasing software provider VaultWare today announced a new program that will allow every apartment community in the United States to have a dedicated property website at no cost. The VaultWare Places program will officially launch in January 2011. On that date, multifamily property managers and owners can visit the self-service site at www.VaultWarePlaces.com and follow several simple steps to quickly and easily create their professionally designed website. The VaultWare Places property websites are built specifically for the apartment industry with a focus on leasing apartments and a platform that offers the ability to easily add on value-added features such as mobile capability and apartment reservation functionality among others.

"VaultWare recognizes that a quality, consumer-centric property website is the cornerstone of any successful marketing plan," said Mike Mueller, CEO of Realty DataTrust. "In 2011, we will ensure that every apartment community - regardless of size, grade or budget - is able to cater to online apartment hunters with a highly-effective property website that puts the focus on the apartment shopper's needs, in turn driving more leases."

In most cases, property managers capitalizing on the VaultWare Places program will save hundreds of dollars per month currently being spent on each of their current property websites. These savings can then be reallocated to other marketing and leasing tools that increase the functionality and effectiveness of the VaultWare Places website. In other cases, property managers without a website will finally be able to have a sufficient web presence without the initial and on-going costs.

Initially VaultWare Places will boast multiple templates with various pre-defined color schemes to compliment the property's brand, as well as a content management system designed specifically for managing apartment marketing content. Property managers and owners will appreciate the open architecture of the platform that makes possible the seamless integration with VaultWare's suite of online marketing and leasing solutions, as well as third-party service providers of their choosing such as RentPayment's online rent payments.

Property managers interested in a sneak peak and/or taking advantage of the VaultWare Places program should visit www.VaultWarePlaces.com now to sign up to receive immediate notice of the public availability of the program.

5 Reasons Your Apartment Community Needs a Mobile Website

  1. Your Customers Are Already Mobile
It was just a few years ago that having a website for your property was optional. Today you wouldn’t dream of marketing and leasing apartments without one! More than 57.8 million American consumers (and growing) are accessing the web via mobile devices every day. In the multifamily space, mobile traffic to apartment websites increased 74% per property in the last 6 months alone according to VaultWare mobile site analytics. If you aren’t providing a quality mobile experience to your customers you’re already behind the curve.
  2. The Mobile Web Will Surpass Desktop Web Use Within 5 Years
Mobile web usage is growing at a significantly faster rate than the traditional web with most analysts predicting that in just 5 years mobile web usage will overtake desktop web usage. Quantcast reports that last year the mobile web grew 110%. Are you prepared for more than half of your website users to visit your website on a 3-inch screen? (It’s a good idea to take a minute and check out what your site looks like on your smartphone before reading further.)
  3. Balloons and Directionals Can’t Beat GPS
If you want that apartment hunter down the street to find you, you can try balloons, directionals and sign-spinners, or you can make it easy for them to find you on their Blackberry! Smartphone GPS technology has become an integral piece of the mobile web that your mobile website must take advantage of. From automatically identifying the communities closest to a potential resident’s current location, to turn-by-turn routing and directions, properly implemented GPS features in your mobile website can be an apartment manager’s best friend.
  4. Smartphones Are Considered Important Tool in Making Purchasing Decisions
More and more, consumers are using their mobile devices to aide them in purchasing decisions and to make purchases. A study by AT&T and Demandware Inc. found that almost 1/4 of retail shoppers use their phone while in a store to competitively price shop an item and 60% ranked the ability to check product availability as important to very important. While only 15% of consumers have used their mobile devices to make purchases, the mobile purchasing trend is expected to increase dramatically as mobile network speed, screen resolutions and perhaps most importantly, website usability improve.
  5. Google Cares About Mobile
Google knows the difference between content designed for mobile use and traditional desktop computing. That means that any SEO you are doing for the traditional desktop web isn’t doing much good on the mobile web. If you aren’t presenting mobile optimized content, Google isn’t going to send you any mobile traffic. But rest assured your competitor appreciates the extra traffic you’re giving them!

VaultWare Mobile Websites are a cost-effective and easy-to-implement solution for apartment managers ready to capitalize on the mobile demographic. They work seamlessly with your existing website, are compatible with all major mobile platforms and require little to no development costs. With mobile demand for current apartment availability increasing 73% and mobile apartment reservations increasing by 67% since February 2010, we highly recommend combining the VaultWare Mobile Reservation System with your mobile website and taking advantage of automatic rate updates, industry-leading availability and reservation functionality and centralized content management for your online ads, website, mobile, Craigslist and social media.
